| Probationary School Counselor | Probationary School Counselor | Position Summary The School Counselor provides a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate counseling program that supports the academic, social-emotional, and career awareness needs of intermediate-level students. The counselor works collaboratively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and community resources to promote student well-being, positive school climate, and student success. Reports To: Building Principal Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Student Support - Provide individual and small-group counseling focused on social-emotional development, peer relationships, conflict resolution, coping skills, and academic concerns.
- Support students experiencing behavioral, emotional, attendance, or adjustment difficulties.
- Assist students in developing goal-setting, organization, school readiness, and study skills appropriate to the intermediate level.
School Counseling Program - Implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with district goals and state standards.
- Deliver classroom lessons related to social-emotional learning, character education, bullying prevention, and career awareness.
- Support school-wide initiatives related to positive behavior, school climate, and student engagement.
Collaboration and Consultation - Collaborate with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, social workers, and other support staff to address student needs.
- Participate in problem-solving teams, child study teams, and intervention meetings as appropriate.
- Consult with staff regarding strategies to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
Family and Community Engagement - Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and available supports.
- Provide families with resources and referrals to community agencies when appropriate.
- Participate in parent meetings, conferences, and school events as needed.
Assessment, Data, and Documentation - Maintain accurate and confidential student counseling records in accordance with district policies and legal requirements.
- Use student data to identify needs, monitor progress, and inform counseling interventions.
- Support transition activities for students moving between grade levels or buildings.
Professional Responsibilities - Adhere to ethical standards and professional guidelines for school counselors.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and required trainings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the building administrator.
Working Conditions - Work is primarily performed in a school environment.
- Occasional evening hours may be required for family meetings or school events.

| Probationary Physical Education Teacher - LP | Probationary Physical Education Teacher LP | POSITION SUMMARY: The Elementary School Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive physical education program that promotes physical fitness, motor skill development, healthy lifestyle choices, and positive social-emotional growth. Instruction is aligned with New York State standards and the East Irondequoit Central School District curriculum, and is delivered in a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Physical Education Teacher shall: Instruction & Curriculum - Plan and deliver standards-based physical education instruction for elementary students in accordance with district curriculum and New York State Learning Standards
- Teach knowledge and skills related to physical fitness, movement concepts, cooperative games, individual and team activities, rhythms, and age-appropriate sports
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of all students
- Integrate instruction in citizenship, teamwork, sportsmanship, and responsible behavior
Learning Environment & Safety - Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive physical education environment
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior consistent with district policies
Assessment & Student Progress - Assess student learning and physical skill development on a regular basis using a variety of appropriate measures
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Provide feedback and communicate student progress to students, families, and administrators as required
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities - Work cooperatively with other physical education teachers and instructional staff to plan and implement a balanced elementary physical education program
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and administrators to support student learning and well-being
- Participate in professional learning, faculty meetings, and district initiatives
- Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals through professional practice
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to demonstrate physical activities and movements
- Ability to supervise students in gymnasium, outdoor, and other instructional settings
- Ability to lift, move, and set up instructional equipment as needed

| Probationary Reading Teacher - LP | Probationary Reading Teacher - LP | Job Summary The Reading Specialist / Reading Teacher provides targeted literacy instruction and intervention to intermediate-level students who require additional support in reading and writing. The position focuses on improving student literacy outcomes through data-driven instruction, collaboration with classroom teachers, and the implementation of research-based reading practices aligned with district and state standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction & Intervention - Provide direct reading instruction to identified students in individual, small-group, and/or classroom settings based on assessed literacy needs.
- Design and implement research-based literacy interventions addressing decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written expression appropriate for intermediate learners.
- Establish clear instructional objectives and measurable outcomes aligned with district literacy standards and student learning goals.
Assessment & Data Use - Conduct and analyze formal and informal reading assessments to identify students eligible for intervention and to guide instructional planning.
- Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction based on assessment data and observed student performance.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate results to teachers, administrators, and families as appropriate.
Collaboration & Professional Support - Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, ENL teachers, and administrators to support a comprehensive literacy program.
- Provide guidance and coaching to teachers on literacy strategies, instructional materials, and assessment practices.
- Participate in grade-level, problem-solving, and data team meetings to support school-wide literacy initiatives.
Curriculum & Program Development - Assist in the selection and implementation of instructional materials and literacy resources aligned with district goals.
- Support the implementation of district literacy initiatives and contribute to ongoing program evaluation and improvement.
- Stay current with evidence-based literacy research and instructional best practices at the intermediate level.
Family & Community Engagement - Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and strategies to support reading development at home.
- Assist with parent workshops or informational sessions related to literacy development when appropriate.
