Position Summary
The East Irondequoit Central School District is seeking a dynamic and student-centered High School Spanish Teacher for Eastridge High School. The successful candidate will deliver rigorous, engaging Spanish instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards for World Languages, fostering linguistic proficiency, cultural competence, and global awareness among students in grades 9–12.
This position requires a commitment to inclusive practices, high expectations for all learners, and collaboration within a professional learning community.
Essential Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned Spanish instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Implement curriculum that promotes communicative proficiency and cultural understanding.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including ENL students, students with disabilities, and advanced learners.
- Integrate instructional technology and authentic resources to enhance language acquisition.
- Prepare students for local and state assessments, Regents-aligned coursework (if applicable), and postsecondary language use.
Assessment & Student Growth
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records in accordance with district expectations.
Classroom Environment
- Establish a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies aligned with district expectations.
- Promote student engagement, collaboration, and accountability.
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with World Language colleagues, support staff, and administrators.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs), department meetings, and professional development.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and expectations.
- Uphold district policies, collective bargaining agreements, and NYSED regulations.
School Community
- Support school-wide initiatives and contribute positively to the Eastridge High School community.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, curriculum development, or student support initiatives as appropriate.

- Position subject to the terms and conditions of the East Irondequoit Teachers’ Association (EITA) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Probationary appointment leading to tenure in accordance with NYS Education Law.
- Salary and benefits per negotiated agreement.
