Job Description

The East Irondequoit School District is seeking to hire a School Nutrition Manager.  This is a 12 month position, 8 hour per day position (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM) reporting to the School Nutrition Director.  The start date for this position is 11/6/2018.

Below are typical job performance responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the bimonthly department processing/approval of the School Nutrition Payroll
  • Keep master attendance/late/absence records for each employee
  • Responsible for the Monthly Distribution and Ordering of the Commodity Foods in conjunction with the School Nutrition Director
  • Responsible for  routine food orders and shortages/substitutions on delivery as they arise in conjunction with the School Nutrition Director
  • General oversight of daily meal service operations and any staffing absences as they occur
  • Reconcile the monthly school transfer sheets from each school building
  • Complete and maintain the monthly inventory documents
  • Gather the records/invoices needed and prepare any product rebates for submission
  • Responsible for any Purchase Order questions in conjunction with the School Nutrition Director
  • General oversight of District Catering events. Work with the various schools to assure that caterings are prepared and presented on time as ordered.
  • Respond to parent calls and issues as they arise. Refer for follow-up to the School Nutrition Director when needed.
  • Conduct school visits to observe food preparation/quality, meal pattern compliance and sanitation practices.
  • Responsible any other day to day operations concerns that arise and confer with the School Nutrition Director when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the School Nutrition Director and/or the Assistant School Business Official

Job Qualifications

Monroe County Civil Title as School Lunch Manager or Eligible for the title

Alternative to the above which the District may find appropriate, acceptable and equivalent

Valid NY State Drivers License

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, plus; EITHER:

 (A)       Four (4) years of experience working in a service or supervisory capacity in food  administration, nutrition, dietetics or food preparation on a large scale, OR;

 (B)       Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) year college or university with an Associate's degree in Food Service Administration, Food Service Management or a closely related field plus two (2)  years as described in (A), OR;

 (C)       Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year  college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management, Food Service Administration or closely related field, OR;

 (D)       Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C).
