Job Description

Position Summary

Eastridge High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered New York State Certified English Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in English 9 and AVID 10, preparing students for the NYS Regents Examination while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for literature.  Responsibilities include designing rigorous, hands-on lessons aligned to the NYS Learning Standards for Science, incorporating writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, and differentiating instruction to meet diverse learners’ needs. The ideal candidate builds strong relationships with students, maintains high academic expectations, collaborates effectively within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and contributes positively to a safe, supportive school culture.  Candidates must hold appropriate NYS certification in English (7–12). Experience with Regents preparation, knowledge of AVID, and supporting diverse learners is preferred.  Join a team committed to excellence, accountability, and helping every student grow.

Performance Responsibilities

The Teacher shall:

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with district curriculum
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to actively engage students
  • Integrate technology and instructional resources effectively

Assessment & Data

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and improve outcomes
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families

Classroom Environment

  • Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate
  • Promote positive student behavior and social-emotional growth
  • Implement district-approved behavior and safety procedures

Collaboration & Communication

  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and department meetings
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with support staff, specialists, and administrators

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records as required by district and state guidelines
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Comply with district policies, procedures, and contractual obligations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district procedures, New York State regulations, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Terms of Employment

  • Salary, teaching schedule, and benefits in accordance with the EITA contract
  • Appointment subject to Board of Education approval
Job Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Valid New York State Teaching Certification 7-12 English
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and support staff
