Position Summary
The Technology Teacher provides hands-on, project based instruction in a woods-focused technology program at EIMS, introducing students to safe tool use, fundamental woodworking skills, design principles, and problem solving through the Technology Education curriculum. The teacher creates engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that blend technical skill development with creativity, measurement, engineering concepts, and the design process. This role includes maintaining a safe and organized lab environment, teaching and reinforcing safety procedures, guiding students through build projects from planning to completion, and fostering a collaborative classroom culture where students take pride in craftsmanship, innovation, and responsible use of materials and equipment.
Performance Responsibilities
The Teacher shall:
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with district curriculum
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to actively engage students
- Integrate technology and instructional resources effectively
Assessment & Data
- Design and implement formative and summative assessments
- Analyze student data to inform instruction and improve outcomes
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families
Classroom Environment
- Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate
- Promote positive student behavior and social-emotional growth
- Implement district-approved behavior and safety procedures
Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), grade-level, or department meetings
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
- Collaborate with support staff, specialists, and administrators
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records as required by district and state guidelines
- Participate in professional development activities
- Comply with district policies, procedures, and contractual obligations
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Terms of Employment
- Salary, teaching schedule, and benefits in accordance with the EITA contract
- Appointment subject to Board of Education approval
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district procedures, New York State regulations, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
