There is an anticipated opening for a Communications Assistant. The position is full-time, working 12-months, and reports directly to the Director of Communications for the East Irondequoit Central School District.
Job responsibilities are but not limited to the following:
1) Independently create compelling written and visual content for press releases, articles, newsletters and social media
2) Maintain and monitor District website and social media channels
3) Attend school events (concerts, award ceremonies, & sports) as needed for photographing, to share with the community
4) Acts as liaison with community organizations
Special Skills Required:
1) Strong written and verbal communications skills with attention to detail
2) Ability to work independently or as a team
3) Broad understanding of web & graphic design, digital photography, videography, and familiarity with online publishing tools
4) Proficient in PR and communication tools and platforms, as well as social media management tools
Job Qualifications:
This is a competitive Civil Service title. The candidate should hold the title of Communications Assistant or eligible.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER: (A) (B) (C) (D)
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree, plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time /volunteer equivalent experience in public relations or public information, journalism, media presentation, program development or in the preparation of written material for public dissemination; OR, (B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, (not English literature) Radio-Television Broadcasting, plus one (1) year of experience as described in (A) above; OR,
(C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, plus six (6) years' experience as described in (A) above; OR,
(D) Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (C).
